Thrifty Modern Chic: Peplum & Khakis

This look was created from pieces I thrifted here in Memphis (except the Prada shades). The fitted peplum top was a score from the clearance rack at Ross. When I first saw it, I wasn’t sure how I would style it. The color isn’t one I wear often.

Later, I found the Aeropostale khaki skinny leg pants at another thrift store. I had to get them because, of course, they are khakis and can be matched with anything plus they are the most comfortable pair of pants I own. Please, don’t sleep on the comfort of this cotton blend.

Now, my bag (which is one of my favorites), I found at a local yard sale for about $5!! It is genuine leather and vintage, the wear and discoloration of the leather indicates that. This has become my everyday bag.

On this particular day, I really wanted to wear the peplum top so I checked my closet. I decided to grab pieces that can be worn with almost anything, khaki, brown leather, denim and gold accessories. To top it off, I added my Prada shades and vintage Fendi watch (a thrifted gift from my boyfriend).

Style Tip: Combining solid color pieces into one ensemble creates a chic and effortless look. Just remember to keep the color tones in mind and accessorize according to the look.
